Project with Allied Works Architecture | Bluehour is an elegant yet comfortable restaurant and bar in the Weiden + Kennedy building. It’s enduring popularity over the last decade has withstood the test of time.

As a recent graduate, I had worked in the service industry during my undergrad years as a server & bartender and was able to readily apply the hands-on user experience into the design. I saw the project from design through the construction phase and developed the design of the custom cabinetry and several interior & exterior furniture pieces, including a cantilevered host stand, the door pull and a glowing walnut bench which serves as functional art. The exposed heavy timber beams of the former cold storage warehouse form a grid that we layered with ephemeral fabrics to create the opportunity to manipulate the dining environment for open or intimate experiences.

Bluehour stands out as one of my favorite projects because of the amazing space, client, and mix of timelessness and whimsical artistic details.
